I am 57 yrs old with diagnosed Parkinsons for ten years. The last regime that I have been taking for the past two years is mirapex, azilect, and artane, with pretty good control over right sided tremor. Over time however the excessive daytime sleepiness has become quite problematic, embarrassing and even dangerous. I have a new prescription for Requip XL which prices out at $833.00 per month! My questions are three: 1. Is there any way to obtain Requip XL at a lower price? 2. How does one make the transition from mirapex to Requip XL? 3. I took Mirapex 1.5 mg tid and the Requip XL dose is 12mg two po @ HS (or 24mg total). Does that seem to be a correct conversion? Thenk you, Debbie J

If you can take the non extended release, 5mg tabs ropinirole for 100 tabs is $28.81 from costco online pharmacy.

the best way to find the cheapest price is to call around. I have seen that costco probably has the beat rx prices. You could try the regular release which does come generic now. It is more times a day, but I think many times cost beats convience. The transition is usually to tapper off the mirapex and slowly introduce the requip. You can step the mirapex down about 0.5 mg about every 2 to 3 days. The dr may have you take both at the same time so as not to increase symptoms. There is no direct conversion between mirapex dose and requip dose. As you know, these medications are doses based on symptoms. The dose you are on sounds about correct for the length of time you have had pd. Best of health, Mark
