Mark, I'm scheduled for arthroscopic knee surgery in 2 weeks. Is there anything in particular I should know about the drugs used for anesthesia and PD. I have not had my pre surgery interview yet but I believe they do an epidural. They have preliminarily told me i can take my meds (generic sinemet and generic requip)without interruption. I do not know however what drug(s) is/are used for the epidural and would like to check with you about drug interactions when I find out or if you already know. thanks in advance.

an epidural is usually and anesthetic (lidocaine) and a pain med (morphine or Demerol). DEMEROL is a BIG NO in patients with of. Make sure they DO NOT use Demerol. Also, 2 other medications that are commonly used to stop nausea in hospitals are metoclopramide and prochlorperazine. These are also a BIG NO in pd patients. Best of health, Mark

Mark, Thanks so much for the advice. I'm planning to get the specifics on the drugs they expect to use when I have my pre surgery screening. I REALLY appreciate your expertise and willingness to share it with us. eileen
