Hi all
I am currently taking 1mg of Azilect daily and am taking it at dinner. Is it better on the evening or the morning as a rule?
Tx in advance

I am sure Mark will correct me if I am incorrect.
As far as I recall I was told to take it in the morning as it may interfere with my ability to fall asleep were I to take it closer to bed time.

I started on Azilect in Aug. 09.
My neuro did tell me to take it in the morning for that reason. I generally take a nap during the day on Saturdays. I found myself not being able to doze off for about the first couple of Saturdays. At this point in time I seem to have no problems taking a nap during the day or sleeping through the night. Odds are the body gets used to it. Also I am sure individuals react differently to the same medication.

My MDS also advised morning to help with sleep interference. She recently advised that I move other meds (Amantadine and a muscle relaxant) earlier in the evening as well. Since the move, my sleep has been much improved. Best of luck!

sorry for the delayed response. Azilect is best taken in the morning. Not only because of the possible sleep disturbances , but also because you want the peak effects to be while you are awake and not when you are asleep, unless you do alot of sleep walking. But seriously, these are the main reasons.

The reason for the muscle relaxers in the evening and not at bedtime is due to the fact that you want the medication to start working when you go to bed, not 2 hours later. An evening dose will allow the med to start working at bedtime or a little before.

Best of health,

Mark
