Hello Mark I have been on P.D. meds for 6 years now and have tried a few antidepressants. I have a lot of anxiety and now depression which I don't know if it is a result of the P.D. or the meds. My last attempt was with Remeron which after about 6 or 8 weeks I felt like I had become very depressed and decided to taper off. I felt better without the Remeron although it did help me with sleep. I have now been off the Remeron for about 3 months and it is very apparant that I need something else as I struggle daily with the symptoms of anxiety and depression. Would it be a good combination to take Trazadone or Amitriptyline at night for sleep and Buspar in the morning for depression. I would like to stay away from the antidepressants that cause sexual side effects and weight gain. I have tried Paxil, Effexor, Luvox, Wellbutrin and Remeron. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm not Mark but I am on 20mg of prozac in the morning and 20 mg of amtriptiline at night. I felt better after just a few days of that combination. I'm not on any Parkinson's meds. My doctor said to go up to 40mg prozac but I didn't do it cause it scares me a little... Mark, is 40 mg a normal dose for prozac? patti

Ella, What I have seen to be successful is lexapro. 10 to 20 mg in the morning works well for depression and anxiety. As far as sleep meds. First I would try a couple benadryl at night. If that does not work, trazadone or elavil are also good choices. If that does not work, a low dose of ambien or lunesta are used just for sleep and have no drug hang over affect. Best of health, Mark

Ella, I have been using the Lexapro and have had great results. Would recommend to ask your doc about it. Jim

Sorry, sent that one too fast. Sleep is still a problem. Have tried Ambien and benedryl. Right now trying Clonizapam in very low dose but it helps to get to sleep yet I still wake at frequent intervals. Hoping that upcoming DBS will help. Jim
