Hello Mark!

I have high cholesterol and read on the internet that Niacin can make it lower but is this ok to take with 20mg of elavil and 20mg Prozac? The Niacin 400mg I purchased also has an ingedient 100 mg of Inosital, (to stop the "flush" they say).

I have Parkinson's, (diagnosed by two separate MDS) but at this time am not taking any Parkinson's meds and alot of my symptoms improved after starting the Prozac and Elavil.

I tried to take PD meds but had alot of trouble with them and i don't really know now if it was the meds or the anxiety that was causing me so many problems. Is there a chance I don't even have Parkinson's?

it is ok to take elavil and Prozac together. The niacin is a good medication to help lower low to moderate increases in cholesterol. The innositol will help with the flushing, if you so experience flushing you will need to take a regular strength aspirin about an hour before taking niacin.

As far as the pd, symptoms, and antidepressants. Many people have experienced some symptom relief while on antidepressants. It appears that that the balance of the serotonin and norepinephrine plays a role in in the lack of dopamine in pd patients. Also, depression is a part of many pd patients. Depression brings about many symptoms that can be exacerbated in pd patients. Some of these include pain, fatigue, and muscle pain. Once the depression is under control these symptoms may be lessened or eliminated.

Hope this helps.

Beat of health,

Mark

I usually recommend GNC supplements at my pharmacy. High quality and a very reputable company. Order on line at www.GNC.com

You could also try niacin to help lower cholesterol.

Best of health,

Mark
