My husband was diagnosed a month ago and we are completely overwhelmed. First and foremost, he has always had regular sinus congestion. Is there ANYTHING he can take with Azilect other than Benadryl? That is fine at night/home, but he has to work and Benadryl knocks him out.
Thanks!

great question. For the congestion, sudafed pe is good. Go with the regular strength, not the 12 hour or long acting. This has less tendency to cause agitation or "the shakes" than the sudafed you have to get at the pharmacy counter. As far as a cough supressant, you can use regular robitissin dm. It works well and is ok to take with pd and is ok to take with the meds he is on.

As you have probably noticed, almost all the cold meds say "don't take this if you have ......,pd. If you every have a question, ask the pharmacist. If they cannot give you an answer, I am always here to help. If you also have amy questions about pd or meds, let me know.

My husband has a cough. some times he coughs so hard his face turns red. Can I give him Mucinex to loosen the phlegm? He has had PD for 15+ years. Most things I have read say don't take if you have PD.

mucinex is a great thing to use. If he takes each tablet with 4 oz of ice cold water ( the colder the better) it will loosen it up more.
