yes, numbness and tingling are side effects of requip. I know it is bothersome, but there is 1 question that will help you decide to stay on it. Is the benefit of the medication greater than the agrevation of the numbness? Did you experience it at lower doses? It may be dose related in your case so, a chair in strength or how many times a day may diminish this side effect. Please get in touch with your dr about this. Best of health, Mark

I am currently taking 2mg Azilect and 3mg Requip 3xday. I suffer extreme nausea and dizziness about 45 min. after dose of Requip. It last for about 45min-1hr. Is this normal, should I request a change from Requip to something else. I am trying to avoid sinement at this point but am getting frustrated by the side effects.

it is a normal side effect, unfortunately. It can sometimes be eleviatwd by taking it with food. Usually right after you eat. Did you have the same side effect at the lower dose? An option may be to lower the dose and take it more times daily. This may take care of the issue. A better way may be to try the requip xl. Of is a longer acting which requires you to only take it one to two times a day. This side effect may be less with a long acting versus an immediate acting requip. Best of health, Mark

Thanks! I switched to Requip XL and no more nausea. Is there a med for balance or do I just need to accept that poor balance is just something that I will have to live with due to PD.

there is, unfortunately, no medication that can be used for balance with pd. The balance issue is do to unco-ordination of muscles. Have you ever tried muscle relaxers? Baclofen is a great muscle relaxer for pd patients because it is very specific for post spinal cord muscle spasms. This may help the co-ordination of muscles and help with the balance issue. I was taking 6mg. of requipXL for several months . I felt awful - like diziness, disoriented, ect. have been off of it for 2 weeks. Besides PD, I have moderate mitral valve which causes anxiety- have been on celexa 40 mg. and .50mg xanax(as needed) for a long time now. My anxiety has been extreme since and a little before my diagnosis. Normal meds. don't seem to be helping. Any suggestions?

I am a little concerned that I have not received a response. Am I sending it wrong? Does it take a certain amount of time for an answer? I am a new member.

Dear Pinky, In case you didn't see it, there were a couple of responses to your questions re: requip on the message board (as opposed to this, the pharmacist's forum). See: http://www.yopa.org/board/board_topic/1785244/450881.htm If you are waiting for Mark (our fabulous pharmacist) to answer it does sometimes take a few more days than makes us comfortable in our search for quick answers. Mark seems to check in at least weekly. If you see your questions he will too...be patient. I hope you are feeling a little better... Rose
