I have been on medications for Parkinsons for seven years, however over the past year I have had difficulity in getting a good night sleep. I have tried Ambien and Tylenol PM but have not seen any improvement. Do you have any recommendations.

what parkinson medications are you on and what time do you take them? Some pd meds can cause sleep disturbances. Let me know so I can help you.

I only see 2 small things that could be the issue.
1- the selegiline could be causing an issue. It seems you are taking it earlier enough in the day to not cause a sleep issue . It could be that they are taken to close together and when they are metabolized the product ( which is amphetamine) could be at a high level at bedtime. Maybe use a sigle dose in the morning.

2- the stalevo could cause sleep disturbances. If you move your lady dose a little earlier in the evening it could help.

You may want to try some benadryl before bed. Even though it is used Gor allergies, it is also used to help sleep. It was also used as one of the first meds for pd.

Remember, please talk to your dr before you make any decision on changing your meds or when you take them.

Sleep is an issue for me as well. When I don't sleep well my symptoms are much worse the next day. I have been taking .5 mgs. of Lorazepam at bedtime. I try not to take it every night but I find on the nights I don't take it I get very little sleep and the nights I do take it I get about 4 hours sleep before I wake up. I'm usually up for an hour or two before I get back to sleep. Do you think that Lorazepam is safe to use this way? Is there a better drug that you would recommend. What about Remeron?

you may want to talk to your dr about possibly using trazadone, ambien, or lunesta. All are very effective with little drug hangover in the morning. At tugs point I would not recommend rwmeron unless there are other other issues involved that you have not spoken of.
