Hi,my pwp has had pd for 23 yrs and is 55 yrs old now. He had dbs on both sides about 5 yrs ago.

He moves well, but his cognition is getting quite severe and is frustrating to him and to me.

He seems more "with it" mentally when his sinemet kicks in. He is on 1 1/2 (25/100) 6 times a day.

His neurologist believes that he should not be on more although he has little diskynesia.

We is on the excelon patch, tasmar, lithium, effexor, klonopin, trazadone, deprenyl.

I noticed quite a few people take much more sinemet and have h not had pd anywhere near as long. What is your experience? thanks, eunice

what you may want to discuss with the dr is switching to a long acting sinemt. This may give a more controlled relief of the symptoms over a longer period of time. This results in less tablets a day to take.

Please remember that it is not how long someone has had parkinsons but rather the severity of symptoms and the agressive treatment the dr feels comfortable with. Don't get frustrated, there are always other options put there.

Best of health,

Mark
