I was Dx with parkinson 3 years ago and using now azilect and Neupro. My doctor told me to try Sinemet 25mg/250mg half pill 3times daily.I couldnt pass one day before feeling drowsy and nausea the whole day is it that is not the correct dosis for beginners?Or is it that I can not tolerate medicine??

I had the same reaction and was shocked by the headache and nausea I experienced. Hang in there!!! Sinemet is a powerful drug and your body needs time to adjust to it. It took me a good month to six weeks to get rid of the nausea. It was so bad in the beginning, I had trouble getting out of bed in the morning. I pushed myself and the nausea decreased as the day went on until it eventually went away almost completely. The good news is, I am moving better than I have in six years since diagnosis and am off all other medicines at this time. I am not a doctor or pharmacist, but my advice is to take it slow, don't increase to a whole pill until the nausea subsides and then do it in one dose increments -- I increased to a full pill in the morning and stayed on halfs for my afternoon and evening dose for two weeks until the nausea subsided. Also, you have to eat something when you take it (although when you're nauseous that's the last thing you want to do.)
Good luck!

many times it is the l-dopa in the sinemet that is causing the nausea. First, try taking it with food (no protein either before or after because this can alter the amount of medication that is used). If that does not work, there is a medication that is just carbidopa (carbidopa is added to sinemet to counteract the nausea) and this can be used with sinemet to decrease the nausea.

This is not an abnormal starting regime. Many physicians are being more aggressive in the early stages to increase the quality of life.

I have heard that Sinemet can exaggerate your tremors into something like a jerk and if you then stop taking it, the jerk movement stays with you permanently, is this true?

the jerking issue is called dyskensia. it is evident when higher doses of l-dopa are taken. No, this will not stay with you. it will go away with the withdrawl of the sinemet.
