Shakes, My legs and hips were hurting me so bad, mostly in the morning or getting up after sitting or driving...I started going to see a holistic Dr..She made me what they call a remedy and my pain is minimal now..hardly bothers me at all..I also do leg stretches in the morning when I remember..The holistic Dr is helping me very much..I forget to do the leg stretches because the pain is gone most of the time now! Theresa, do you mind telling us what type of holistic stuff are you doing? I have been taking Traditional Chinese Herbs and they too seem to help with stiffness and pain. I can tell the difference because recently I take less of it and feel worse. It's tough because my TCM doc has me taking sixty pills of herbs a day. My reg doc isn't happy aboout me taking all this stuff but says to continue if it helps. I read some stuff on India's herbs but I'm affraid to try that. Also curious- are you taking any vitamins or supplements along with the other stuff? I started taking Vit B6, Omega-3, Grape seed extract, NAC, and other antioxidants.

I live near Chicago. I go to a Chinese medicine master who has a very good reputation. I tried accupuncture once and stopped. I think a much deeper massage is better and goes to all the nerves and has longer lasting effect. I'm not all sure that his pills are helping me. I do think they help with stiffness but it doesn't cure or prevent anything. He's was upfront about it. He doesn't want me taking any western meds, at least not yet. I also go to a Mexican guy who stretches my body and puts everything in balance. That helps too, plus he is a very good person to talk to and seems to have like a sixth sense with people. He too doesn't want me to take any meds yet as he thinks my body feels very loose and normal. I am in my eight months since symptoms started. Now my face feels tight and painful when I smile. It loks normal but if I smile just slightly, my cheeks tremble. It's been tough emotionally. I have a wonderful wife beside me but I feel that I'm letting her and her family down. They don't feel that way and are very supportive of whatever comes. Your point on staying positive and hopeful is so key. The Mexican guy I go to keeps tellng me that and not to think about PD and just go on with my life as if nothing changed. It's hard to say the least. My wife and family would rather I stop reading about PD and not visit the forum especially since I don't know for sure it's PD. Sometimes reading about this stuff here and elsewhere helps but most other times it just gets me depressed. I try to be positive. Good luck with everything.

Mario I live outside Detroit..My boyfriend lives in Chicago (long story) And I do purse parties (I get the purses from Chicago) So I am there every few weeks...You see I want to stay away from the sites too because it depresses me but I learn things as well..My boyfriend was here yesterday from Chicago to see my holistic Dr (he has a bad knee). All I know is that I believe as you believe when we think about it...It grows..I have a friend who has pd and his wife just had their first child he says he doesnt know what happened his symptoms are easing up..I know it's because he is thinking about the baby and not pd...The acupuncture helps me and I had a vision while having the acupuncture...We are doing the right thing by seeking help other than the western medicine...I seek both but my holistic Dr said she thinks in a short period I can start cutting down the requip. Good Luck! hang in there and keep being positive! Its the only way to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Theresa

Theresa, I'm interested what suggestions your holistic Dr is giving you on eating, etc... I think that can benefit many people here, and whether they want to believe it or not is their choice. My main problem now is joint and muscle pain, although I have a tremor in both hands and sometimes feel stiff in general. It is not noticeable to others. I also have some other secondary symptoms. My TCM (Chinese master) has me on five different types of herbs. Altogether it amounts to about 20 pills 3 times a day. They aim to help with the pain, toxins in liver, sleep and other areas. It is hard to tell how much this stuff is really helping. He wants to see me when I feel that it is not helping me so that we can adjust the herbs and try others. I am curious to learn more about India's Ayurvedic medicine. I found a website of a doctor in India who claims he can cure PD in 1 to 4 years with his home made medicine. He wants $110 for a month's supply if you want it mailed. He welcomes people who want to travel to see him in India, and he also comes to the US sometimes. I don't know if I should try this or not. Please let me know what sort of holistic Dr you are seeing and telling me the details of what you are told to eat or stay away. Also, what is that detox foot bath? I heard somewhere about this but didn't think much of it. Let me know if you prefer to e-mail me directly. I appreciate this info a lot. I do believe in trying whatever works and I think you have the right attitude. I will do whatever it takes to stay well. I'm not even 30, have a wonderful wife and a baby on the way. I think you really have to want to live and never give up and eventually something good will happen. I also think religion plays an important role in this for me. I pray to get better and for others and I know others have been helped by praying and believing. Thanks

That's great. I hope the herbs continue to work for you. The best part is that it is all natural and doesn't damage your stomach. I will try to stay off the regular meds as long as I can. Although I'm constantly itching to try the Azilect that I was given. Once I'm done with my dental appointments, i think I will try it. I also have to get the PET or SPECT scan to confirm if I do have the illness. Thanks again and please email the info to: zmariusz78@yahoo.com

I take 3mgs of mirapex....I started having alot of pain in my hips it felt like my hips were tied with a rope and I couldn't take a full step. I told my doctor about it so he put me on amantadine 200mgs a day. Then I started swelling in my hands and lower legs. He put me on Benztropine...Which did nothing but dried me out and made my stomach bloat....But when I stop taking the amantadine about two days later I was in such pain in my legs. My hand turned back into a claw and lack of movement. Well I had some left over amantadine and started taking it again and I feel alot better, but I going to have swelling again, but that doesn't bother me verses the pain. I see my neuro on the 21st I am hoping he will put me on the patch. Thanks Mark I was beginning to worry about you. Glad to see that you are okay. Cheryl(shakes690)

Theresa, I read your post on how much success you are having working with a holistic doctor for pain, etc. I would greatly appreciate your sharing nutritional as well as other regimins e.g. exercise that you are finding helpful. I am 47 and was diagnosed less than 2 weeks ago, after years of being told that everything I was experiencing was "in my head". I am waiting to go through traditional testing, after which I intend to meet with a NPD. I am especially interested in finding out anything about what has helped you with pain management. I have been to the ER so many times in the last year that they will no longer provide treatment. That's another story... Also would like to see what you think about COQ10 use. Thanks in advance for your help.

hey everyone, I was trying to get back on the site (strange things with the web) when I finally found it through this post. This is excatly what I'm very interested in. I'm only 33 and my left side is affected, have dx'ed 3 yrs ago but had all signs prior. I have watched myself go down hill, I'm very interested in holistic and truthworthy ones, money is tight being single and all.I live around Lacrosse, WI, any information on food, vitamens, & docs available would be so helpful. My nero has my on segiline but I don't notice anything. He's also very ho-hum bout alternative stuff, I want more & think is more, I'd be very grateful for any information. I'm also available at helga_beerator@hotmail.com. thanks very much :) Helga
