Okay, so if you're easily offended by sexual talk, then turn back now!!!!! So, last night, my husband and I had sex for the first time in a while. I don't have much of a drive anymore and seeing as how I'm not very well lubricated and extremely "tight", things don't always work out well in the bedroom. Regardless, we did have sex last night. I got such a back foot cramp in the middle of it that that's nearly all I could think about. I didn't want to stop or ruin it for him so I just kept going (I was on top). Then my right side decided to join in the fun (the foot cramp was surprisingly in my left foot- I'm mostly right side effected). When we were "done", I got out of bed to use the restroom and my whole right side was cramping and spasming and I couldn't hardly walk straight. I couldn't get my right side to relax at all. Now, at this point I should also confess that since my doctor's upped my dose of Sinemet, I've been "feeling pretty good". However, I seem to be the kind of person that once I start to feel good, I tend to "forget" to take the meds. Hm. So, yesterday I didn't take all three doses and not at the right time. I was very "hit or miss" with it all yesterday. So, I'm sure that I brought this all on myself. Regardless, here's what happens next..... Of course, my husband's asleep in like 32 seconds (no offense, guys) and I'm lying there wide awake in pain. So, this goes on for a while and then it occurs to me that I could "take some more meds"...."Ah, that'll fix me right up!!" NOT!!! So, I get up, go downstairs, take my meds and await the relief! Can I tell you, that I'm still waiting? The cramping has stopped for the most part, but I only slept about 30-45 minutes all night. Now, this USED to be my usual nights sleep, but, since I've been on the Sinemet my vampire ways have all but left me. DH and I did have a tiff earlier in the evening and I was quite stressed out about it. I also took my girls to the pool yesterday, even though the temperature was 97 degrees. So....after all that, I guess, I'm wondering, if in all y'alls wonderful wisdom.....did the muscle thing happen mainly because of the missed dose of meds or the stress or both or is this a new reason why I won't have sex ever again! LOL.....

Hi Bec... My neuro told me to drink tonic water for cramps.... usually in my feet and it works for me. Tonic water is high in sodium... so this would not be advisable if you are having problems with too much sodium A glass of tonic water twice a day almost eliminated cramps for me. Hope this helps.. Thank you. No, I don't have a problem with too much sodium. Actually, I'm on a high sodium diet because of my low BP. Great idea, thanks!

Becca My wife suffers from cramps more than I and she doesn't have PD. Sometimes we have them at the same time during those special moments and it makes for a wild time as we are both in pain, wanting to finish, and laughing together at the same time. Where there's a will there's a way. Keep on keepen on

LOL- Clearly, THAT'S true. Why does your wife have so many cramps? Is there a medical issue for her, too? Sounds like that might be nice common ground for you both. Sometimes, I think that it's "easier" when you're with someone that can "empathize". My husband is healthy as a horse. Makes it hard sometimes. No pun, intended. :-)

Becca- Your electrolytes might be out of balance due to the diet. Make your doc check, especially potassium. It can really have an effect on cramps and muscle control.Regarding your love life. I assume this to be true for both genders, but ain't that just like a man :-) As you begin to have sex, your natural dopamine levels start to rise. They peak at orgasm and then drop sharply. You know that you had gotten off schedule on the meds and then you got on the roller coaster.

reverett123- Interesting idea about the electrolytes, I hadn't thought of that. I also didn't think of the "roller coaster" effect of having sex, either. I guess, the truth is, I never knew that sex and dopamine were really connected in anyway. (Like, duh, right? I have low dopamine and therefore NO sex drive...geez, Bec!) It was so bizarre. It felt as if I'd just finished working out for hours and my muscles were quite sore and stiff and the muscle in my buttocks, just would NOT let go. It was hard as a rock for the entire next day!! Horrible really. It was less of a spasm I guess as a cramp or just a really tight muscle. I find it quite hard to describe what I'm feeling most of the time. This has gotten into quite a bit of trouble with the medical community! Like I'm supposed to know all of the medical implications to every single word I use, i.e. the difference between muscle weakness and muscle fatigue, the difference between a cramp and spasm, etc. etc. Who knew you could be DX or UN-DX just by using the wrong word!!
