Hi everyone, my name is Christina. I am 33 years old and looking for any kind of support I can get. I live in a small city of only 9,000 people, and there is no support groups in my area, so I'm looking for online support and e-mail pals. My e-mail is chistinamoore@aol.com I would really apriciate all the support I can get. My main issue right now is memory loss. It really bugs me that I'm having memory problems, meds take care of my other symptoms.

HI - I'm sorry you both have pd, but don't worry, it's not an immediate end. I am 40 and I was dx'd on my 38th bday. I had symptoms for several years before that. In fact, I still go "hey, remember the time I couldn't do X, wow, that ws a pd thing". Anyway, in the 2 years since dx, my symptoms have been pretty stable with just a little bit of degradation. In general, things are better because I'm taking medicine that helps. My medicine is still pretty low, but I have had to work on the exact amounts. My symptoms are mainly on my left side. I have 2 boys aged 6 and 4. My first symptom was that my left arm hung rididly and does not swing when I walk. Then I started having problems w/ my left leg - limping and such. I thought I had a stroke but the dx was pd. Anyway, with the meds, I am back working out, riding my bike, walking the kids to school, etc. If I had any advice for you, I would say 2 things - 1. Find a good neuro 2. Keep exercising or start exercising. The more I work out, the better my symptoms are. I do aerobics 2x per week and at least one decent bike ride. I can't exercise everyday - it's too hard, but I'm still doing ok. Hang in there - I can write you directly if you'd like. Michelle

hey when my boyfriend had a heart attach last year he couldn't afford his meds. go to the web site for the maker of the meds you need ask the phaarmacist who the maker is and most of the time they have a phone #. if you call them they may give you all your med for free. i'll try to find the RX site we used. And also you can't be fired for being disabled call your dept. of labor.

Christina,
I too am dealing with memory issues. Two years ago I took a lengthy memory test and did not do very well. Last week I even forgot a co-worker's name. I have Aricept, but have not yet determined if it is doing any good.
In the past I have forgotten where the mens room was or where in I needed to be to catch my bus back home. I also seem to get confused easily at times and have trouble sorting things out. Many times I even forget to take my medications or I think I'll do it in a few minutes, then I forget.
Who knows, maybe there is another in your area with or suspects they may have PD and thinks they are all alone.
All I can do is think - okay, this is what I have, manage it and move on.

Thank you everyone for your support, it is greatly apreciated. I may talk to my Docter the next time I see him about my memory problems. I just have a harrd time with talking about that problem because of my young age.
