I had lab work that shows a b12 deficiency - anyone else out there with the same thing?

Yes, I recently had a B12 of 345 which is the low end of normal, normal being 200-1100. Now I'm on injections once a month for a year or until my levels increase. Laura

Hi same for me ...low end of normal readings.. they used to call it pernicious anemia (deadly anemia) my Dr said it s not going to kill me.... thats encouraging ! and has me taking B 12 tablets. I get the impression from my dr it s not too serious. Dave

My B12 was 344; doctor put me on 1000mg a day. I am currently undiagnosed. Has only been two weeks, but I swear I feel better......?

my b12 level was 120. I think it is considered very low-the normal range was 211-911. mine was in the 300s two years ago- I wonder if it is related to pd- or if somehow the B12 deficiency is a cause of pd? my mds wants me to have a methylmelonic acid test next. the intrinsic factor test was positive- so I think it means I am not absorbing the b12 through the stomach lining.

Hi - Sorry, I don't want to sound uninformed (dumb) but is anemia just a b12 deficiency or are there more than one type of anemia? I am always anemic - they test every quarter because of my lupus, but they never say anything about b12. Thanks, Michelle

it must be different- you can probably be anemic and not have a b12 deficiency but a low b12 can be related to anemia - it is an area that I have not found much online that explains it well enough. i think that malabsorption of b12 in the stomach is what is going on with me- but low b12 can lead to neurological problems - like dementia. just weird that mine has dropped so much.... I have been so tired this year though- especially in last month or so.

Mine came in at 766, but my vitamin D was at 18- 20 is low end of normal range and 10 is considered deficient. I also had my D tested in winter months which would naturally cause lower readings too. But, the B12 is mid range I guess- my lab said 193-982 was range and I think it depends on altitude and such and we're high here where I live. Anyway. I do a multi-vitamin daily, calcium with D, B12 and potassium supplements, and a 400 IU supplement of D every 3-4 days. Hasn't changed how I feel one way or the other. I'll be interested in reading more posts on this! ((hugs)) Connie
