I know there are people here who do yoga. I am just wondering what types? Is there a particular brand to avoid since it is even more difficult with PD?

A friend's wife is opening a Bikram studio nearby and I am considering trying it out. Anyone else do this type of yoga?

Thanks

I do Ashtanga (sp?) yoga thru my YMCA. Recently I found a great dvd called "7 minutes of magic" by Lee Holden which is a beginning Qi Gong and Yoga program..it's really really good! There is a morning routine and an evening routine (they are just 7 minutes long or there are also extended routines on the same dvd). Very calming.Good luck!

I imagine that any form that encourages you to stretch and relax a bit is a good one! The heated types may be too much for some (like myself) who are prone to overheating and wouldn't be relaxed by it, but stretching is good. There's an organization here in Indianapolis called "Rock Steady Boxing" (google it/go on YouTube) that offers free classes for PD patients, which includes a LOT of supervised stretching. Many of them report dramatic improvements... let us know how you do with it!!! ;)

I really enjoy my yoga class - It is not something I ever would have considered pre-diagnosis - after an hour when we go into relaxation mode I could literally go to sleep.

Plus I shave in the tree position for two minutes standing on my right foot and then brush my teeth for two minutes standing on my left foot.

Must run, I need to go find the posting on obsessive compulsive behaviour...
