I'm wondering what dosage works best for those who only take Mirapex and no other Parkinson's drug. I know everyone is different, but I'm very curious.

I took only mirapex for 18 months. The best dosage was .5 mg 3xday. In the beginning I ramped up to 1 mg 3xday, but that caused side effects. So, they brought me down to .5 mg. This was really good for 6 months, then my symptoms got slightly worse. They just added Amantadine 100 mg 2xday and it has fixed the problem. The big bummer is that I know the disease is progressing. I think it all depends on how serious your symptoms are. Good luck.

Mirapex has been a tough ride trying to get the right dosage. I was originally prescribed .5 mg 3 times a day. When starting this new drug they start you slow for the first couple of weeks trying to get your body ready for the full dosage. I notice a change in my body within 2 hours of taking .125 mg for the first time. It really helps my shaking and internal tremors. Within a few weeks I was at full dosage and the side effects started. First, tons of energy and very little sleeping but then came the dreaded brain fog and even worse panic attacks. My nuerologist suggested that I increase my dosage and I struggled with that advice. To make a long story short...I final have discovered that I was over medicated and I find that .125 3 times a day is fine. I have a few symptoms but have found this to be the best balance between the symptoms of the disease and horrible side effects of the medication. I have experienced the same thing with Mirapex. I was taking 3.375 mg a day and for 3 weeks suffered terrible anxiety I couldn't go shoppign to dinner I was even having issues with talking to people. I dropped dosage down to 3mg a day for the last 3 weeks I have been pretty good but anxiety is starting up again...Mirapex is only drug I currently take

wow you have been taking a lot of mirapex each day- I too had anxiety attacks- and maybe some paranoia when I took 1.5 mg/ day. I remember this time last year, feeling so paranoid and getting so upset and anxious- I may feel some of that now- like I could use a xanax to slow everything down. I reduced the 1.5 mg to .75 mg/day and 1/2 sinemet 3/day- then the mds added the neupro patch 6 mg. I have been on that since December. I guess since I am using the neupro patch I should be able to get by without the other meds, but not so far. maybe things are progressing? I seem to have less trouble with problems like typing- but more problems walking and problems with a shivering inside- I mean, it is like I am freezing to death. the patch does have benefits though- even though I need to supplement it with basically what I was taking pre patch - I still am able to get up in the morning and if I forget to take meds then I am ok for a couple of hours- that is good.

I have not decided what I will do about Mirapex...if anxiety keeps up I will have to get off it I think.
