Hi to all
I sure this has been asked many times!! But I will be the 101th. I am generally sore all over at different times, mostly on my right side (side with the tremor). I am on Azilect( preventative 1 per day) Requip (3 times per day ) and Sinemet (3 times per day) and basically something to put me to sleep at night.
I continually question myself as too is the soreness my doing or the parkinson's!! I just saw my nero in early Feb and all he said was the drugs are doing what they should be doing and all is good!! I am the typical Type A personality that is always stressed about everything and always pushing to be something better. I am learning (slowly) to be more positive and look at life somewhat differently (somewhat challenging, but that is life!!!) I do yoga every morning in an attempt to stay loose and I do try to get out for a walk regularly.
I just turned 46 and was diagnosed about 3 years ago and I am still looking for the answers!!
If anyone can provide some insight into if the soreness is my own doing or if it is typical, as well as any possible suggestions on reducing or coping with it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!!

I have no idea if it is related to pd or to my lupus, but I am always sore. Even if I do simple things that I do every day, I feel like they're brand new exercises. I just assumed it was a lupus thing (I have both lupus and pd), but it may be a pd thing.

My first symptoms in 03 were stiffness/slowness and this constant ache- bodywide, the doc kept calling it 'malaise'- the unwell feeling without anything really definite causing it. I get it off and on at times, this kinda ache feeling, but it's not so sore that I really notice it, it doesn't hurt to touch my legs or arms physically- just this like internal ache that is draining- makes me tired feeling rundown but functional. Not sure if it's similar or not...also I do not have a dx yet- so maybe unrelated altogether.

hang in there- Connie

This PD is a genuine 'futher-mucker, in a myriad of ways.
Aches and soreness in places that you may not have even known you have places in. 'Just back from getting a yard-stick size cortisone injection in my left shoulder...irregular signals to musculature (neurobiology of tremors) can wreak havoc in all sorts of unexpected ways.
No easy answer or way out of any of this for any of us...so you're left to address that which you can through diet, exercise and meds, wrestle with that which you can't control,
and stay as positive in each moment to moment to moment....

This is my first posting to this message board, so hello to all. I was dx'd 5 years ago when I was 37. I had symptoms for 3 years before then but none of the docs I saw could figure out what was wrong with me. Anyway, I am currently on azilect, mirapex and stalevo. What I find so frustrating is that some days the meds work great and others they do not. I am trying to notice if I am going anything different on the bad days but have been unable to pinpoint anything consistently. I hate the feeling that my body seems to be working against me. Most of my symptoms are on the right but the left is becoming bad also. Especially in the morning, if I try to use my left hand (because my right won't move)my toes on my left foot curl up and hurt like h&**!

I guess I'm all over the place but yea the general "bad" feeling really gets me down sometimes.

Hi Bbira, One of my first symptoms was joint pain in my shoulder and hip on the right side, which is my bad side, my doctor told me I'd probably have arthritis when I got older. I still have those pains 8 yrs. later to the point where I can't lay on that side. No blood test has ever revealed that I have arthritis so I assume this is part of the PD.

I am about to be 46, dx'd at 44. One of my first symptoms was a frozen left shoulder. I had a few of those delicious cortisone injections. It gets better sometimes, then gets bad again. I also have lower back pain. I find that if I exercise regularly, stretch (try a dvd called "7 minutes of Magic"), get enough sleep and eat right, I feel much better.
But pain is a pretty constant companion lately.Thankfully it is still manageable with Ibuprofen.

HI Bbira - I can't believe your post. I have had for about 3 weeks now, arthritic pain on the middle knuckle of the ring and middle fingers on my right hand. I assumed it was arthritis. Advil doesn't help, but aleve does. I have lupus and lupus can cause arthritis to appear and then go away. But, how weird that you described exactly the same pain. I'm going to do some research on this. I see my rheumatologist on the 18, so she'll check to see if my lupus is more active. If not, then it must be pd. What a weird coincidence. Michelle

I hope no one minds me asking questions...i try not to post often, as I don't have a formal dx other then fibro, cfs, and mild celiac...
anyway, does anyone get a "balloon head" feeling?
this would be a symptom before meds, as i do not take anything but, a multivit and some calcium.
by this symptom i mean:
1. lots of pressure...like your head wants to burst; almost feels swollen
2. tight face muscles like you are riding in a boat and
3. the wind is pushing on your face very hard...this is painful to me.
4. dimming vision.
5. facial numbness, to include the lips.
6. a "pulling" sensation in your face...almost feels like it sags but, the APPEAEANCE is NORMAL.
7. dizziness
8. a feeling like my left eye is not seeing correctly
9. buzzing, burning, stinging lips
10. having to POP my ears out from the pressure

it really feels like i am short-circuiting...i even get really foggy and my spatial orientation feels off...but, apparently i pass all the neuro exam tests.

*** these symptoms have happened all over my face but, the LEFT side is worse

also, do parkinson's symptoms change from minute to minute: one minute tight, heavy leg...next it is normal again????

ty all so much.

Aches and pains have been part of this PD picture since my diagnosis 7 years ago. They come out of nowhere and leave just as quickly. The frustrating thing for me is that it's not recognized by the medical literature and the physicians (at least not that I have seen). It can't be "in our head" or unrelated to PD when so many of us describe such similar experiences. One day my thumb is so stiff, I can't move it, another day I have a spot in the middle of my shoulder that is so sensitive, it feels like a knife stabbing me; other days I'm relatively pain free. It is baffling to me and seems to be more common with young onset.
