Greetings
I know this has been a topic in the past but wanted to get an update on how the patch has been doing.
My partner had to get off the Mirapex because of some compulsive behavior and was started on the patch. His neuro started him low which has caused a little set back but instructed him on how to "ramp" up on the patch dose over the next few days.
I am interested in those who are "new" starts and those who converted from Requip or Mirapex; including how it works and at what strength you leveled off at..
Thanks and Best of Health

Hi,

My husband has PD and has been on the patch for 3 weeks. He seems to like it, he is doing well. He has leveled off at 4mg., the 6mg. was making him itch like CRAZY, but he is fine now. I hope things work out for your wife! Good Luck and keep both your chins up!!

Hi,

started the patch in late Jan 08, after having a major increase in symptoms, intially had the 2mg and then to 4mg after one week.

no apparent side effects, and my health has made a significant turn towards the positive.

I have been on the patch for the last couple of weeks. This is my first pd drug outside of a month "test" of Sinemet. I really like it. I do have some side effects: Insomnia (not much worse than I already had), nausea and a redness/itching at the site of the patch. From what I have read about 40% of people have nausea during the titration to your regular dose. Only about 8% have nausea after that...so I'm not too worried. As far as the site redness goes, I'm really not surprised as my skin is very sensitive, even to bandaids. When I take the patch off, I just wash the skin with soap and water and use a little Aveeno lotion and the redness is resolved the next day.

All and all, I feel really good and think the patch is a smart choice for me!!

I just started titrating down from Mirapex to the patch only. This is day three only, but so far I love it! One less pill, no waning effects, less drowsiness, and I feel better over all. I'm hoping I will optimize for now at 4 mg. Seems to be working better for me :-)

I'm on 4 mg, for right now at least. I started at 2 and moved up 2 months later. If you put the patch on your shoulder or upper arm, folks, that MIGHT make it a lot less sensitive than putting it on your side or flank, etc. I think your skin is a lot less sensitive up there, and it stays on better with movement. Good luck!

Have been on the patch since November of 2007. I honestly feel a lot better with the patch overall. Still have the usual Parkinsons problems, but I am getting by. I an 53 years old and was diagnosed with PD when I was 40. What a long strange trip its been!!!

I still take mirapex and sinemet along with the patch 6 mg
I wonder if I could drop the mirapex and just keep the sinemet- although my mds wants it the other way around.

I have not felt that great in last month- wonder if it is the patch and/or the mirapex.
I have also had the shivering that feels internal.
Maybe that is a tremor- but it is the weirdest sensation- uncomfortable to say the least.

I wonder if the shivers or maybe they are tremors- are b/c I need more meds or b/c I am taking too much.

So confused.

I asked my husbands neuro on his last visit about the neupro patch and she said it has been recalled, so she's not giving it to any of her patients. Has anyone else been told this or heard about it?

P.S. it's good to have the website back. I missed it, even though I haven't had time to do much with it lately.

I am down to 4 mg now- but my mds sent me a few months supply so I guess I will take until I run out. Maybe they will have it back available - I seem to feel pretty good right now- took a week at the lower dosage to feel ok- has any one heard that neupro will be sold again soon in the usa?

I have pretty much gotten off of the patch now- still have some 2 mg patches but they don't help much anyway,,,
I am having trouble regulating the meds- hard to know how to emulate what I was getting from the 6 mg of neupro!

does anyone else have any insight?

anyone know if the patch will be back?
