An interesting observation by Rao of MGH's brain talk communities--

Does anyone know why it seems that even if I'm shuffling and hobbling up the path, and (until last week anyway!) starting a dystonic seizure, if I slide into a swmming pool, the dystonia melts away and I can very functionally swim. If the brain cells were all dead, not getting dopamine, etc., wouldn't that be impossible? Just trying to figure things out....
best,
Rao (Fiona)

It is my understanding the being in a pool of water eliminates the pull of gravity on the body. I know many people with PD that find that swimming helps a great deal.

Christopher Reeve was also to benefit from water therapy, as do many MS patients....interesting, huh?
